Stephany Evans, Literary Agent & President, FinePrint Literary Agency, will read up to fifteen pages of a manuscript, mark the pages with her editorial comments, and personally discuss the manuscript with the author during the conference. These are the rules for manuscript submission:
1. Submissions must be postmarked no later than July 15, 2009.
2. They must be accompanied by a check for $50.00 made out to Muscogee County Friends of Libraries and CVWC must be entered on the Memo line of the check.
3. They must be sent via first class mail in a large envelope to CVWC, P. O. Box 2184, Columbus, GA 31902. They cannot be folded.
4. A postage-paid, self-addressed envelope suitable for return of the manuscript should be included so that it can be returned to you via
mail should you unable to attend the conference.
5. Include a self-addressed postcard if you wish confirmation that your submission has been received.
6. Text should be in 12-pt Times New Roman or Courier font, double-spaced, with a five-space indentation of the first line of each paragraph.
7. Text should be on 20 pound white paper with a one-inch border on all sides. All pages but the first should be numbered in the upper right hand corner.
8. The first page should be formatted as follows:
- Name, address, telephone number and e-mail address on consecutive single-spaced lines at the top left margin;
Genre (if novel) or "Short Story" (if short story) should be on the top right margin opposite the name of the author. Then, opposite the address, place the title if a novel.
Come down four lines, then center, in capital letters, the title or number of the chapter.
Come down four more lines, then begin the text.
If your manuscript is a novel, it is recommended that you submit the first fifteen pages rather than the same number of pages selected from later in the story. Remember that short stories are not usually agented. And it should go without saying that you should submit only a mature manuscript that has been frequently revised and represents your best efforts-an manuscript that you hope is ready for market.
